In Hebrews we have repeatedly been encouraged to embrace the love of Christ. Now on the heels of God declaring this love relationship comes a stern warning to those who reject Christ.
Hebrews 10:26–30 (ESV) 26 For if we go on sinning deliberately after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, 27 but a fearful expectation of judgment, and a fury of fire that will consume the adversaries.
This warning addresses those who go on sinning deliberately after receiving the knowledge of the truth. Sinning deliberately; they voluntarily of their own volution continue in sin. Jerimiah expresses this well.
Jeremiah 6:15 (ESV)
Were they ashamed when they committed abomination? No, they were not at all ashamed; they did not know how to blush.
This is not committing a sin, but one’s whole lifestyle and identity is sin. What makes their
deliberate sin so horrific is that they know the truth. They intellectually know the truth, but they never received Christ as their savior.
