Hebrews 11:1 (NIV) Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.

In Hebrews 10:38, we are told that the righteous shall live by faith. Per Hebrews Chapters 1-10, our faith is based entirely on Jesus. As we embrace Jesus and what HE has done for us, we have confidence and assurance of our salvation and eternal life with HIM. Our faith is based on this revealed truth.  This is what we expect. In this verse, the word “Hope” literally means expect. I do not know why it isn’t translated that way. Personally, I believe everywhere we see this word “hope” in the NT, you should translate it as expect. Thus, we have confidence and expect God to do what

HE said. Therefore, we have assurance in what we do not see. Faith recognizes the reality of the unseen and allows decisions to be governed by that reality.
