2 Corinthians 1:21–22 21 And it is God who establishes us with you in Christ, and has anointed us, 22 and who has also put his seal on us and given us his Spirit in our hearts as a guarantee.

God establishes HIS people as light to this dark world. God’s people are those who trust Jesus and believe that HE paid the penalty for their sins. God’s people are a forgiven people. If we were to stand before Jesus before entering heaven and HE asked, “Why should I let you in.” We would say, “I am forgiven.” Brothers and sisters, this is the only thing we should say. Of course, this scenario will never take place, but it drives home the point that Jesus’ death and resurrection is the only way to eternal life.  As God’s forgiven people, we are HIS own possession. At the moment we trust Christ, God does a miraculous work on our behalf as revealed in these verses.
